Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I get Reason?

Please see the How to buy page for full purchase information.

Is there a demo version?

Yes! Please visit the Download section.

Do I need a MIDI keyboard to use Reason?

You don't absolutely need one, but we recommend using one for the best possible Reason experience. If you don't have one, the on-screen keyboard lets you play the instruments with your computer mouse or computer keyboard.

I have Reason, which upgrade should I get?

If you have Reason, you should get Record for Reason Owners! Record for Reason Owners gives you Record at a great price, and upgrades Reason to version 5 at the same time.

If you have both Reason and Record, the Reason 5 upgrade will give you everything you need to run the latest versions: the Reason 5 upgrade also upgrades Record to version 1.5.

Detailed upgrade information can be found at the Upgrade paths page.
