Things, Knock Knock and Ohh R Ya
posted by Leo Nathorst-Böös 2009-01-12 at 16:37I've been using the beta version of Things for some time now, mostly just to take notes. But since it went gold and all the features finally work (filtering by due date, thank you!), I've decided to give it a try and use it more like it actually was designed for, and try to really structure my work. I really need to keep my to-do list in one place, and not in iCal, Thunderbird, Things and my head. It's hard. It takes getting used to. But I'm hoping that once I've learned how to do it, Things will be an indispensable help. And it's pretty too!
On a completely unrelated note, XLR8R released a collection of their 50 best mp3s of 2008 as a free download a few days ago. I went through most of them last night, and fell in love with the off-beat groove of Mike Slott's Knock Knock and Caspa's dubstep piece Ohh R Ya. Go get them!
Ben Burtt
posted by Leo Nathorst-Böös 2008-11-24 at 16:06While having breakfast this morning, I watched some videos of Ben Burtt, demonstrating how he created the sounds for Wall-E. You really need to watch at least the first one. If there are such things as wizards, I'm sure Ben Burtt is one of them.
Oh, and while I'm updating my plan file anyway (for the first time in seven months!); please don't submit more basslines. I'm the one who has to go through all submissions, and my ears can't take more low-end! :)

The Tubes
posted by Leo Nathorst-Böös 2008-04-14 at 16:11Can anyone explain this YouTube trend to me? Why on earth do people animate dancing anime characters to the Swedish song Caramelldansen (The Caramel Dance)? There are hundreds of them!
The weirdest ones are those where the verse is removed and the chorus is played over and over again for four minutes...
Coincidence? I don't think so!

Fax Spam
posted by Leo Nathorst-Böös 2008-02-28 at 10:33Every week, we get a bunch of fax spams to the office from companies that sells everything from air coolers to copy machine paper (buy eight cubic meters, get a free bicycle!).
I wonder how lucrative the business is. And how does it work; is it just one guy with a piece of software that sends out all the faxes, or do they have an army of manually operated fax machines?
Anyway, back to e-mail support and today's Beatport Burners Podcast.
