Hopefully your summer is going as great as ours. Here in Sweden things are pretty quiet. With beta testing and final product tweaks finished, most of us have retreated to our Swedish country cottages and vacation spots for some much deserved R & R. While we're firing up the grill, the Reason and Record discs are off being manufactured by the thousands. In this issue:
Get out a marker and draw a big circle around August 25th on your calendar. That's the official release date for Reason 5 and Record 1.5! Now draw a black line through August 26th to at least the end of September. Trust us, you'll want to block out that time to play with Reason 5 and Record 1.5. It is, by far, the most fun version we've ever released. Every new feature is geared towards making great music quickly. Of course, you don't have to wait until August 25th to start getting busy. Reason owners can upgrade to "Record for Reason Owners", get familiar with Record's new audio workflow, and receive a free update to Reason 5 and Record 1.5 at the end of the summer.
There are only two kinds of people on earth: those who recognize Pascal Gabriel by his name and those who recognize Pascal Gabriel by his work. His credits are a veritable wikipedia entry on modern pop music from Kylie Minogue, Dido, Erasure, New Order, to club legends like Deborah Harry and Bomb the Bass. Two of his most recent projects, the Melophobia ReFill and his album with Marina and the Diamonds, actually came together in the studio at the same time. We caught up with Pascal to get the details on his work with Marina and to hear about how he makes extensive use of Reason in his production work. Summer school has never been so much fun. All summer we're rolling out new videos from our "Micro Tutorial" series to help get you up to speed on Reason 5 and Record 1.5. By watching these videos you'll be able to hit the ground running on August 25th. If you haven't checked in with our YouTube channel, there's a lot of new material to see!
