It's Halloween! All around the world kids are stressing out their parents with over the top costume ideas, couples are racking their brains for cute joint-costume plans, and comic-con attendees are finally able to blend into normal society for one glorious night. Before you put the finishing touches on your stormtrooper masterpiece, we've got some great stuff for you to check out. In this issue:
When we released the Soul School ReFill in 2009, the concept was simple: Record old school grooves authentically and provide producers and musicians access to these unique loops with unprecedented flexibility, not possible through vinyl sampling alone. Now we are proud to introduce Soul School 2. Soul School 2 builds on the original with a collection of new songs, grooves, loops, and sampled instruments. New in Soul School 2 is the addition of streamlined Octorex patches with collections of loop variations and Kong Kits containing Rex loop pads that make sample-based guitar, horn, bass, or drum performance a creative treasure chest. What's best, if you already own the first Soul School, you qualify for special discount pricing for Soul School 2. Don't have either and want both? We've got you covered with a bundle deal too!
This past month, U-he expanded their Rack Extension library with the new Uhbik-F and Uhbik-Q. The Uhbik-F is U-he's flanger which is super-charged to give you nearly every conceivable flange and modulation effect... and a few inconceivable ones too. The Uhbik-Q is U-he's take on EQ. Uhbik-Q combines freely tunable frequency bands (4-pole filters, not the usual 2-pole!) with presets for other options. Q-factors automatically adjust to gain, an optional 'mid' bell curve filter adjusts to the two main bands… judging by the simple GUI, you would never guess just how much this EQ can do!
