Do I need a MIDI keyboard to use Reason?

You don't absolutely need one, but we recommend using one for the best possible Reason experience.

I bought Reason 3 two weeks prior to the release of version 4

...can I get the upgrade cheaper/for free?

If you have purchased Reason new after June 1st 2007, you're entitled to a free upgrade to Reason version 4. Once you have registered your Reason version, please proceed to the grace period page for further instructions.

This offer includes upgrades from previous versions to Reason 3, upgrades from Reason Adapted as well as Academic and EDU versions of Reason 3 purchased after June 1st.
