Peff's 5 Custom Patches
Biography
Kurt Kurasaki aka “Peff” is the author of the Power Tools for Reason book series and the Music Production with Reason 4.0 DVD tutorial. He is a member the sound design team for Propellerhead Software and a presenter at Producers Conferences, specializing in insane modular patching in Thor and the Combinator.
Beat Repeater V1.cmb
This patch is all over most of the tracks I release online. The Beat Repeater is limited to 16th note resolution, so I usually double the tempo of a track to get 32nd note repeat effects.
Double Digitizer.cmb
As much as I like the Scream 4 digital effect, it has a distinctive character. This combi is a variation of the bitcrusher effect with multiband filtering to mix things up.
Granular Snare Hit.cmb
This instrument patch is great for tweaky percussion effects. You can stretch a drum hit out and create some interesting artifacts. The effect is featured in one of my most popular YouTube videos.
Hexpressor.cmb
This is a six stage multiband compressor with adjustable mid and treble ranges. I rely on this patch for mastering since I can adjust the gain on individual ranges rather than rely on equalization.
REX Wrapper.cmb
Storing references to various favorite REX loops is a little tedious, so I made this Combinator patch so that I could save a Combi with the REX Loop inside and quickly recall it. The patch includes a Thor Filter, and a beat repeat effect all in one.
