Gothic instrument refills

Does anyone know of any gothic-sounding instrument patches similar to the ones found in Castlevania music? Thanks.

Would that be the lovely classic castlevania era or the Symphony of the night Era?

Check this out. All made with reason. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QkM7...e=channel_page

Wow, that song's awesome, teknotokon! Did you make all those patches yourself? I could distinctively hear some good old Genesis at 2:22. Very inspiring!

Oh I did not make the track in the link. It was made by Hydlide. He is a reson master. I just put the link because it is related to castlevania and Reason.

I do know that Hydlyde makes all his own patches with the reason synths. So all the sounds you heard can be made in reason.
I think most of the 8bit sounds were made with Subtractor.

Gothic... I don't remember Castlevania (gosh, that was over 20 years ago.. am feeling old), but for gothic I'd definitely go for
- simple synth patches.
- scream 4
- loads of reverb
- a bit delay & chorus
- make up and safety pins on the combi backdrops

Funny topic. I actually got a soundtrack CD when I bought Portrait of Ruin for my Nintendo DS a while back (preorder bonus). I took some tracks and ran them through Recycle so I could play them back through the NNXT.

dunno about castlevania sounds, but if you're looking for something spooky, id check this one out, they also have an nes refill, but that's more tweaky 8 bit stuff

Distortion, reverb and chorus really isn't it.

Whereas the Scream and RV7000 can get what you want, you probably want to use some of the soundbank modulation patches as sends to get a decent chorus, cos all the single modules reason has (chorus/phaser/unison/thor chorus) are too generic and don't really get the sound as guitar pedals
