This is just a small sample of the loveliness I get, before I kill the process.
It causes my CPU to spike to 90%... Updating CodeMeter does not fix it.

Great decision on the new copy protection guys.
It taxes my Mac harder than Record does.

I'm glad I paid for this CPU leeching piece of crap to latch onto my system.

Please clearly state which of your software is dongled in the future so I can avoid it.
I would rather "Please insert your original ReCycle disk for proof of purchase." every other launch.

cordially,
Russell

Codemeter is certainly busy, but it shouldn't behave like that, and it certainly shouldn't take up that much CPU time.

It should start out something like you describe on autostart:

Then when you plug in the key, briefly:

Then you can take out the key, and CodeMeter should settle down into checking authorisation every few seconds:

What you have could be a faulty USB port. I'm not defending CodeMeter - it annoys the hell out of me - but I don't think it's the main cause of your trouble.

Looks a lot like my Codemeter activity according to CMDust. After the 1.0.1 update the key simply doesn't work anymore on the usual port (or any aother port). At the moment, I'm waiting for what support has to say on this.

I should have been a little more specific. This happens randomly. Even when I'm not using record and the Ignition Key isn't plugged in at all. I'm not sure exactly what triggers the issue. I have a USB Hub, but I always plug the dongle into an actual port on my computer, but considering this happens when I'm not even using the ignition key... I actually haven't plugged it into my computer since I installed record and just use the internet authorization.

There has to be a better way than to constantly scan my usb ports for an ignition key. I have other (cpu friendly) services running in the background and even without fully taxing my system when it messes up it's still seems like a hog when I watch activity monitor.. spiking cpu up and down every few seconds. What should happen is if you're not connected to the net and you try to launch record it should kick off code meter and code meter should ask for a key.

However I'm more calm now than i was at 2 am this morning trying to figure out why my computer was running like ass. I can actually just disable the codemeter service (as long as it's still installed) and internet verification will still work.

Sorry for the angry rant, but it's 2010.. we should be past this dongle stuff :/

Interesting. Wonder if any of this relates to busy processor stuttering due to codemeter as mentioned by others of us.

I know this issue far too well. Absolutely love packing my Recycle disk every time I travel. Blows.

You have no idea how much I want to make an immature joke about this.

Go for it, but I recommend - just don't use any visuals.

As if 'sticking in the dongle' wasn't graphic enough... :D
