Audio Hijack for mac, I use to use Sound forge on win xp but cant anymore in 7.

there are numerous converters, for mac I use iskysoft:http://www.iskysoft.com/video-converter-mac.html
which you can run in demo mode for free, with a limit of 5 mins, which is more than enough just for chopping out samples
of course you could also route the audio into audacity: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ and record it from there so as to get around the whole conversion business.

Audacity also has an "extract audio from video" function, doesn't it?

For $5 you can get this:

http://www.movavi.com/christmas-sale.html

The audio suite extracts audio from movie files.

damn man sounds sick..i think i might just get...i think sampling directly from files is better than recording with mic

I have several of their applications, it's quality stuff. I just ripped the audio from an episode of Breaking Bad and it was done under a minute.

you seem to have misinterpreted, you do not need to record from a mic with audacity, just route the internal output signal into audacity, but actually, I downloaded audio hijack after reading this thread, and it seems great for the initial acquiring of material.
