More colors, using color management.

Hello everyone ! :)

It's not an important suggestion, but still. In some of my song files, I'm using plenty of instruments. There are already many colors that could fit to all the instruments but some would have the same ones.
But my idea is to have a color management, using color theme files we can modify, and have our own color theme that fits our music style.

Here is an example of how it could be :

You can see the different colors for tracks, also the colors from the theme on the menu, and also an example of a color management using files on the right. The colors could be written in hexadecimal for example.

Take a look at all the elements of the picture and tell me what you think of my suggestion. :)

(Please reply to this post of you think this idea must be realized.)

It is interesting.

Thanks. ;)

I don’t know French but I think that I have an idea of what you are demonstrating, and it looks beautiful. I have posted along with many others about wanting more colors. We currently have 16 to choose from, but several are close to the same (Moss Green vs. Light Olive, Ochre vs. Orange) and several others are so dark that I have to look twice to read the text, so I only use about 7 of the 16.

I'd like that. Always stay away from those 1st five pastels and wish I could just use a color picker like this:

Well, the fact that there are many similar colors is good for me. For example, for all the strings sections, I have four green colors. The clearest for the violins to the darkest for the basses.

And thanks for the nice comment. =)

Well, that could be possible. But the problem would be to store the colors in the context menu. Or maybe each track would have its own color information.

More colours has long been requested, but this is a really nice way of doing it.

And to go further with this idea, I have to precise some cases :

For example, if I loaded a theme using ten colors, then I put all those colors to my tracks, what would happen if I change the color theme that only have four colors ?
I thought about having a default color (the very first default one in the actual context menu) which would be applied to all the tracks that have a color out of the theme's list.

Because I thought of a numbered list of color to switch themes easily without having to update all the tracks' color.
A concrete example :
Quote:

Theme 1
1. Red
2.Sky blue
3.Dark grey
4.Indigo
5.Purple

Display
Track 1 : Color 2 (Sky blue) - Track 2 : Color 4 (Indigo) - Track 3 : Color 4 (Indigo) - Track 4 : Color 5 (Purple)

Change of theme -> Theme 2
1.Yellow
2.Clear green
3.Violet

Display
Track 1 : Color 2 (Clear green) - Track 2 : Color 4 (Default color) - Track 3 : Color 4 (Default color) - Track 4 : Color 5 (Default color)

Change of theme -> Theme 3
1.White
2.Sea blue
3.Old green
4.Skin
5.Purple
6.Grey

Display
Track 1 : Color 2 (Sea blue) - Track 2 : Color 4 (Skin) - Track 3 : Color 4 (Skin) - Track 4 : Color 5 (Purple)
In this example, the colors have not been removed from the tracks that hadn't a color in the theme's list (example theme 2).

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Another case : What if the color is black, or just very dark ? (When the notes' block is not open, all the notes are black, you see the problem ?)

There would be two solutions :
1. The first one would be to invert color darkness of the notes (from a not-open block).
2. The second one would be to limit the darkness of the colors.
From #000000 to #202020 would be automatically set to #606060, for example.

A picture to give a concrete example :

We can see the black closed block having clear notes instead of dark and also the "out of list" color attribution.
