Raider - Cover/Remix of the original Tomb Raider game theme

I recently bought TR Trilogy for the PS3 and started playing the Anniversay game which is a rehash of the original. My wife Liz pointed out that it was the same music too (she loved the original). The music is obviously very nice so I decided to have a go at covering it. I found a MIDI file on the net which I rearranged a bit, tidied up a bit, changed sounds, added percs and a bassline and gave it some Soft Enerji flavour.

I hope you enjoy.

It's here: http://soundcloud.com/soft-enerji/raider for comments

and here: http://softenerji.bandcamp.com/track/raider for quality

I've dissabled download as I'm not sure of the legal aspects of covers and remixes.

Cheers

Mark

Slick production. Very creative chilled mix there.
Nice pan work and subtle percussion.

Thanks
Joe

Cheers Joe, it felt very chilled while doing it.....first time I've ever worked with a pre-done MIDI file. Was kinda nice to have the basics there already so I could just concentrate on getting the atmospheres right.

Hi Mark, beautiful intro which then blends perfectly into a cool song. Great full ambient tune with your usual spot on production, you pulled the remix of perfectly.

Cheers Simon

Really nice tune ... well remixed ... I wouldn't know where to start .. did you just start off with a midi file of the main tune then add all the other stuff yourself? Very talented stuff

Great composing . I think maybe a touch more low end or Bass .. make it move the room at spots.. Nice job overall

Hey man thanks! All I can say is...............just start...and keep going!:)

Yeah I found the MIDI file (weird thing is I can't find it again, but what the hey!), imported it into Record and just played with it. There were a few things I had to tidy up but once I got going it really was just a case of finding the right sounds to suit the parts.

The final steps were....mix in Record..........then master in Sonar X1 with Ozone 4.

Cheers

Mark
