punch in
please, please, please add an auto audio punch-in feature in your next version of Reason.
As a guitar player, I find it very frustrating not being able to do on-the-fly punch-in and punch out.

This is a fundamental feature of most DAWS Sure, you have great features in clip edit mode, but as any lead guitarist would agree, we just want keep playing once we are in the 'zone' .

It would an immense all round improvement if we were able to set the locators in such a way as to automatically punch in (left locator) and punch out (right locator) . This method is a really quick way to build great solos bar by bar.

I know this subject has been posted before but from my perspective adding auto punch capability would be one of the best upgrades Propellerhead could add to the already great Reason .

Please think about this and ask some serious guitar players what they think.

Well you clearly don't know this function:

A solo I built.

Reason has great manual punching capabilities, but I think he want something automatic so he could (for example) press record, run to his instrument and play his part in at the right time.

i kinda feel where he coming from i record hiphop alot there is alot of punching sometimes i look like a damn fool telling the artist rap with the track then punch them on time and if i mess up OPPS run it one more gain lol alot of the artist i work with is used to recording in pro tools so yeah that be hott if they can add auto

Yes you got it. The whole idea of automatic - punch in is to be able to play along with theguitar part already recorded and when the auto punch kicks in, then I just keep playing until punch-out - with no damage to the existing good part of the take. It is probably not how a lot Prop guys would record but guitar players like to keep the ball rolling once they are the zone.

even if you could set it so the record pre-roll plays the session instead of just the click, that could work out well for auto-punch functionality

This is also needed for midi recording.
I sit there working out a sequence over and over... stopping to fiddle with the buttons and such in Reason throws me off and I often forget parts of the pattern or lose my timing... It should just record over and over to new takes and I just pick the best one ....instead of playing games with Reason.
