THAT Reason sound

Im really interested in hearing people's views on this one now that RE's have been invented...

I still think Reason has a 'sound' (not the audio)...

Does anyone else?

No, just you. There's a Reason default setting which might lead to n00bs making similar sounding mistakes, but there is no way to identify all tracks made in Reason because the SSL mixer is an accurate representation of hardware that it common in most professional studios. The FSB sounds may be old but there would be an outcry if they were removed. Again, n00bs using FSB sounds without tweaking them can lead to a sense of familiarity, but this is not because Reason is colouring the sound, it's because we've been hearing those sounds for over a decade.

This subject has been beaten to death and debunked quite a few times now IIRC.

You know what does have a sound?
ill-informed people using their DAW's incorrectly. (& that's achievable in ANY software)
:D

And I have say I'm a bit confused here by your question.

How do you have "a sound" but, "not the audio". ??
What does that even mean?

Borderline 2012-09-05 15:27

It means that im not talking about any audio that people might import into reason now that that is an option. Im talking about the sound that is synthesised by Reason.

Borderline 2012-09-05 15:28

Interesting theory.

I disagree with it, but its interesting nonetheless.

hmmm as in my posts in this thread !!
https://www.propellerheads.se/forum/...d.php?t=166769
So people why the RE`s sound better have better sound posts etc etc? all drivel then and more to the point why is anyone buying RE`s if its all there in reason all ready ??
I would like to know why any one is buying them instead of creating like for like in reason racks only.
And I think this argument is stemming from back before the SSL etc etc.
This subject realy intregues me too.
Im soo looking forward to all the expert views especialy the ones that have big upped RE`s and the sound quality factor etc very very intrested infact I might even lol at the change of stance etc on what has been posted all ready all over the forums by certain names that may now argue this and not realise by having posted anything like the RE have better sound, notice the difference type thing should take one step back and think before they post :). Thats my ten pence ohh by the way I actualy like certain elements of the reason sound !.
Ohh and I am a noob so I can post this and not be crucified thank you very much :).

I wonder why the opposite of that is true...?

For ex.
A seasoned vet runs a test thru good ol' scientific process and, will the post findings and yet,
The noobs will still argue with him. It happens in every thread like this.

A noob can still make comment on the sound of a DAW.

I might not know how to make, or have driven a Lamborginhi or Ferrari but I am more than capable of recognising and discussing their engine notes.
