So you can make a mic out of an old speaker

and this is old news. but apparently if you use an older speaker, roughly 6 and a half inches to ten inches, you can make a pretty cool sub kick. Anyways, my question is, has anybody ever tried this with a smaller speaker to make a weird snare mic? Even just for effect? I'm too lazy to try this out because I don't know how to properly solder anything together or how to match ohms but yeah, let me know some cool stuff that you've done or seen with this concept!

no never tried that but i think if you plug a set of headphones in to a guitar input on a guitar amp this should turn 1 side of the cans in to a mic
from chidhood memory it sounded like crap

Old headphones with one side on top and the other on bottom. Invert the phase of one and you'll have an audio track that will be fun to run effects on. Note exactly the ideal snare mic setup but something fun to play with.

Could be cool to use as an effect :)

shred it with a razor too.

(only joking, I got annihilated for suggesting this to someone before who wanted a decent fuzz).
