Help-Problems With Behringer UMX490 Drivers
I just bought a Behringer UMX490 keyboard and I am having problems locating and running the right drivers. I have 64 bit windows 7 home premium and have tried several of the drivers from the Behringer website but they will not locate my keys.
I am running Reason 6.5 and had an M-Audio keyboard previously in use (with no problems). Can any one give me step by step instructions on how to get my keys running? I beleive I have deleted the m-audio keys but the behringer will not detect, I have tried it with the batteries and without, which I am not even sure if the keys need a power source, either way no lights will come on my behringer board. Does it need a power cord?
Anyway, I would appreciate any help I could get from anyone who has had similar problems.
I have a UMX61 so I should be able to help. You don't need a special driver from Behringer.
These keyboards don't come up in the reason menus by name. What you need to do is this:
Go to preferences > control surfaces
Click Add then for manufacturer choose <Other>. Set the model to MIDI Control Keyboard.
For MIDI Input, click the Find button and hit some keys.
These keyboards don't require power if you are using USB, but if you are using a MIDI cable then maybe you do. (at least i think - i've only ever used USB)
And don't worry about it just using a generic driver. All the controls are functional and most correspond to the correct function by default. ie the Sustain button actually does activate sustain on the notes.
Thanks so much, I followed your directions and it worked great. I thought I was going to have to send this thing back. Also, thanks for replying to my message so quickly.
