New single just released - heavy on the Enigma influence, lots of Fairlight refill

Just released my debut single as a solo artist. Very exciting time for me!

It's a tune I composed earlier in the year, and finally got a mix (and Master) that I'm happy with. Composed, arranged & mixed entirely in Reason 6.5. I used Bitley's Fairlight Platinum refill for probably 80% or more of the patches. A thousand thanks to Bitley!!!

Here she is:

The rest of my album, which comes out in a few weeks, is more in the vein of early OMD, New Order & Joy Division. I love those old analogue synths!

Thanks for checking it out. :)

Cheers,

J

Hey Jimm,

Loved the track! It certainly had a HEAVY Enigma influence, that's for sure. It was mixed just perfectly. Everything about the production was perfect. I wouldn't have changed a thing, even the snare was perfectly mixed! The sounds blended so well. You're right about the Fairlight Refill being one of (if not THE) most useful refill for us retro-heads. Very, very well done.

Great job, and I am eagerly awaiting the album! Early OMD and New Order influence is right up my alley!

All the best,
Carl

Loved Enigma, love this. Gets you in a good mood. Great flow, melody and production.

Enigmatic to say the least lol

This rivals pure moods and the sound is PHAT - great Reason usage

Thanks, Carl! I super respect your opinion, so it means a lot. Thank you VERY much. I used a lot of Arp Solina, Mellotron & Eminent 310 patches on the album to recall the sound from 'Your Silent Face', 'Atmosphere' and 'Maid of Orleans'. Can't wait to release it.

Thanks again!

Oh...... and for the record, I've been following your DM cover thread here on the Music forum, and for what it's worth... I would LOVE to hear you try your hand at something like 'The Sun & The Rainfall'. That's my all-time favourite DM track. If anybody could do it justice, you could. :)

Cheers,

J

Hi Jimm

Wonderful track - great job.

I can tell a LOT of hard working hours went into this creation!!
Very polished piece of work, and a great tribute to Enigma.

While you have used a lot of sounds and techniques that mimic Sadness (part 2), it's definitely your own works with your own style showing through.

I particularly liked the interplay between the piano and the shakuhachi.

Per Carl and others comments, great mix/master with everything fitting perfectly in their place.

And I too am a big fan of Bitley's refill! You've certainly made something special from it...

Thanks for sharing!!

cheers,
Raymond
