Hey people,

I need some quickie advice on this track - thoughts on the synth work in particular. Do you like/dislike the sounds used etc.? Any other advice welcome too.

Compiling a couple tracks with this vocalist for a demo submission and want to have everything just right. Thanks for yalls time.

Well I love the original Fleetwood Mac song. I recognise the song you've used for the low/bass synth but can't remember what it is. I think it works. I like the variations that come in after the big build up at 2:26. Can't really comment on mix as on earphones but nothing sounds bad. It gets a bit saturated for my tastes in the big build up but that may just be me.. I'd drop the bass line theme out for a bit at some stage. Overall very nice work.

Thanks - I know im dealing with repetitiveness on this track and its because i have not brought in and out sound sources enough - too much of the same too often. RZA says it best in Repo Men:

like from 45sec in to 2:30

Never thought anyone would do that track as a remix! Well done!

I know right, Mandi emailed me with the pella out of the blue as I was working on the U2 cover and I was pretty pumped to do it. I wanted to go throw back 90s era with the Robyn S Show Me Love riff variation. To be honest, I am not satisfied with the arrangement. Repetitiveness is overcoming the originality currently imho. I am really flattered by yalls kind words though - was expecting/looking for a bunch of suggestions hahaha. #OCD

I got 2/3 more tracks coming with mandi vocals cuz she just sent me some more stuff. Going for a trancier vibe for the next one. 90s dance aint my normal trip lol

thanks bro - I think I can attribute the ABL2 dualed up separate sidechain parameters and automating almost all of the knobs minus the tune for the low end, plus the m100 organ nnxt for the signature robyn s show me love sound. plus I added a nord hp/square hp lead for the "chorus" - each has separate sidechain settings though which helps fill out the "duck space" between the kick - plus two kick samples heavily augmented. most of percussion is sidechained as well - individual settings so thats a redrum and mclass for each sound. fyi. this includes most of the snare/clap samples even though they are on the kicks - manipulating the sidechain params on mclass with patterns off the kick creates a real sucking bounciness to the beat in my experience.

It's funny you mention Robin S, cuz that was my first thought upon hearing that 90's-era house-y organ riff. Maybe even a touch of old-school The Beloved in there too. I was a big fan of that era. I think her voice is really superb. You've got a great foundation there to build pretty much anything with. I also like how you chopped up the vox a bit.

Synth-wise, not really much I'd change really. If you're wanting to take it in another direction, let's say..... trance, for instance...... some nice atmospheric/evolving pads and saws. But really with that voice, you could easily go in just about any direction or any genre. And you know how to throw a good mix together.

Simply put....... do what feels right. :)

Wow. kind words bro i really appreciate that. You are totally right about her voice - shes the easiest vocalist i have ever worked with, so much fun. I do love the 90s lol... but I couldnt agree more - there needs to me more synth change/morphosis during the duration of the song - if it was any longer it would be popping out to more people than just us i think, but since its only 3.5min i am getting away with it. I am going to rearrange some parts and bleed the faders a bit to create some difference over the course of the full wavefile.

I posted this for a nother lad on here but RZA says it best in Repo Men regarding how to mix a track - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5GuE07Ounw
