Reason does not seem to pick up aftertouch from my Akai MPD18. Any ideas?
It might be sending poly pressure (a.k.a. note pressure, polyphonic aftertouch).
I tried the original MPD16, and it does that.
If so, you have two options:
1. If the editor supports changing from poly pressure to channel pressure.
2. Editing the (Reason) MIDI codec for the MPD18, to treat poly pressure like channel pressure (by discarding the note number).
No, it's set to channel pressure, and it works fine in ableton. So maybe the midi codec in reason just does not pick up aftertouch from the MPD18?
You are right, channel pressure is not in the MIDI Remote codec for the MPD18.
I attached a quick edit of the codec files with channel pressure added, hopefully it works because I haven't had time to test.
Here's how to use it:
1. Find the files AkaiMPD18.lua and AkaiMPD18.luacodec on your harddisk
2. Replace them with the files in this archive
3. Restart Reason
Let me know if it works or not.
If you ask Akai Pro support, perhaps they will add the pressure controller to all their Remote codecs.
