Reason - Newbie Help

Hi

I currently have Reason 6.5 and trying to get to grips with it. I'm currently following an online course from Sonic Academy which is good so far. Firstly can anyone else recommend any other good learning resources for a beginner?

I'm experiencing the following quirks:-

If I rename a device in the Mixer and/or the Rack then it automatically reflects the new name in the mixer/rack. However when I look at the sequencer it still has the original device name. Is the sequencer separate? Do I have to also rename the device in the sequencer also.

The exact same thing happens if I change the track colour, it updates in the mixer and rack but not the sequencer. Any help would be most appreciated?

Also is there anyway of colouring the notes by pitch? So all C's are blue , D's red etc?

Cheers
Graeme

https://www.propellerheads.se/forum/...d.php?t=166145 has a youtube video (you have to watch it on youtube for some reason) that I posted a while back. It's not about Reason but it's about the art of mixing. Your going to have to learn how to mix and what studio devices do in order to know how to use them. This video is a great reference for begginers that want to learn the basics of the art of mixing. As far as the labling devices I'm not too sure. About coloring you can't color the notes but you can highlight the tracks (or blocks) in the seq view and then choose your color. This is a great way to stay orginized. I color all my drums Red,bass orange, instruments green, vocals blue, group busses lilac (on the mixer). It really helps whenever you end up mixing 40+ channels.
There are some great books you can buy like "the audio engineers handbook", "the art of mixing" (has more info than the youtube video has) and there are some great videos on audioschoolonline.com (just stay away from "really hot summer" if you don't own pro tools). The best thing to help you learn Reason IMO is the Reason manaul. Alot of begginers overlook reading the manaul. Good luck to you !

If you rename the track in the sequencer it will change it in the other two areas as well, so that's a good policy.

If you want, you can check out the Propellerheads' youtube channel here:

http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list...D&feature=plpp

You've got two sections there, Basic and Deep, nicely split into sections/instruments/...
