Need helping making a sound

Hey guys, I'm really new to producing and making music (so I'm also composing-illiterate), but I was wondering if anyone could help me try and makee a harmonious background sound (I assume it'd be called a bassline although I don't think they're bass instruments) as found in songs like these:

In this one as soon as the vocals kick in:

In this one it starts straight away

Do you guys know the type of sound I'm talking about?

Thanks heaps

Are they preset sounds and which synthesizer should I use? cheers

In Thor, try the Analgue 1 or 2 patch (open a thor up, initalize it, select the open box next to the name on the Thor, search under pads and it should be in there). That gets the basic sound you want.

There is then a massive compressor on both of them sidechained to a bass drum, this means that it 'pumps' or pulses in time to the music.

The other way of getting that sound is that you need to be playing multiple notes, so try a fifth above or below as a starter...

Need anymore help just shout :)
