Hot Mix

Imagine you have worked for some hours in a mix and now you kinda like it! But when you check the meter, you see the mix is picking on -2, -1 and sometimes in 0 db. How would you solve this in Reason's main mixer? Since you cannot turn down the volume of more than one instrument at a time, would you try to turn the volume down one by one?

Turn down the master or put a limiter/compressor on the master channel. It depends, if you like the mix then really it shouldn't matter if any tracks are peaking there, just make sure the master isn't peaking too much.

Seeing as your peaks are minor I concur in either lowering Master Fader a tad or probably far better to pop a M-Class Maximising Limiter in the Master Insert and either turn on the 4ms Lookahead or the Soft Clipping.

This will lop those few straight db off the top without any (particularly) noticeable changes to the sound of the mix.
