Competition entry - advice needed!

Hi all,

I'm entering an indaba music competition and would like some feedback on my entry if that's okay. I've attached the page so you can hear the original - a really good pop folk song with a great groove. I've traded on that groove and developed a big break out of it. The competition is strong so I was wondering if I could get peoples' thoughts/advice/feedback/criticism before the final tweak and entry. Thanks!

Hi,
I am no expert by far, I would only reduce the gain a bit in mastering. Other than that I find it great.

thanks for taking the time to listen and comment. Did you think it'd lost too much dynamic range/was overly loud?

I found it a bit too loud on my ordinary speakers. When I put on the headphones, it seemed very good. Then I recorded it with cool edit, and thought that the EQ bar just goes a bit too much in the orange towards red. Based on the type of the song, I do not think it would do it harm if it were tiny less loud and the peaks would be cut a bit less? But really, I do not know any standards and am no expert, must stress that again.

Look, that's great advice because i can only test it out on so many systems. Also, you've gone to a lot of effort and I really appreciate that. I want it loud but i don't want to lose too much of the peaks. I'll definitely ease up on the gain. Thanks again!
