Best controller to trigger Rex loops

As of today, what are the best controllers to activate loops from Dr OctoRex?

Honestly, I would say whatever you have! :)
Once you have the notes right, it should be simple from any controller.

I'm really glad I have the nektar P4 because there is no setup at all. I load an Octorex and have all 8 mapped to P4 pads instantly, with visual feed back always knowing what pad triggers which loop as a little added bonus.
Not to mention controls like "run"already mapped out on P4 screen and buttons.

Hope that helps

By controller, here I mean something like Novation Launchpad, APC40, etc.

Which one is likely to require the least messing with MIDI mapping, etc?

I see.
And you're perfectly right, the P4 is an oustanding product.
But I'm looking for something without a keyboard, like the APC 40. [I'm already using 3 keyboards at the same time. No space left to rig another one.]

It's just that I read a few bad stories about trying to connect the APC 40 to Reason. So ... wondering whether there are some good stories among the people of this forum.
Or whether it's better to go for another product?

I understand now! I think some people around here had the apc, maybe they will chime in.
If its all just MIDI (controller) to Reason (remote) you should be good though.

So... any APC40 users?

Good or bad experiences?

I forgot to mention to check in the remote devices list (in file>preferences, when you go to add new controller.)
Any pad device in that list should be working mostly. Not sure of how one may compare with another but, you know what I mean :p they are essentially "remote ready, supported devices" in the little drop down list.

Ah, good point!

On my version of Reason 6.5, the listed Akai controllers are: LPD8, MPD18, MPD24, MPD32 and MPD49.

No mention of APC40.

Bummer. It's a great controller with Ableton Live. What I'm trying to figure out is how specific to Live it is.

Hello?
Any APC40 users out here?

:)

I own one. It's specific to Live to a point they put the Ableton logo on it... :) It was made for Ableton anyways, hence they call it the most perfect Ableton Controller when they released it.
