Melodic ambient electronic - I've put quite a bit of work into this one so want to get it as right as I can, so any comments good or bad greatly received :)

Very nice! Good mix. Did you solely use Reason for this? Anyone who says you can't get quality audio out of Reason is a numnuts. This sounds just as good as anything I hear on the radio. The only thing that really stood out as something that could use some improvement in any capacity is the bass in the mix. Some of the pads are a bit more present than the bass is. Personally speaking, I'd bring those pads back a little, and pull up the bass in compensation.

My $.02 anyway,

I like the general idea of it. As per the previous post, maybe a little more bass would be nice. I'm listening to it on pretty cheezy speakers, so that my have an influence on the bass issue. I really like the rhythmic chords and arpeggios.

I like it. A friend in the room enjoyed it as well.

Thanks guys, great to get some feedback. I spent quite a bit of time with the mix. The big issue is that the kick drum and the bass line are quite "deep" - kick at around 48Hz and bass has freqs at 40, 55, 63, 82 etc, so getting their volume right was a bit of a balancing act. In the first mix I did the kick and bass were REALLY overpowering!

To cut a long story short I tried lots of different kicks but still loved the depth this one gave, so I compressed it quite a lot. As for the bass I tried my best to introduce some higher freqs (also cut the 40Hz) so that it would be more present on lower quality speakers but from the sounds of it I wasn't as successful as I'd have liked. But now with your feedback I can have another go :) In the end I tamed the bass (it was loud and boomy in the 1st mix) by using 4 dyne as a 3 band compressor. My bands were 20-270Hz, 270-2100 & 2100-20,000 as these matched natural breaks in the freqs.

I'll see if I can improve it, thanks.

Happy holidays everyone!

I liked this!

Do you have any more like it?

Not exactly like it out at the minute though Out The Corner Of My Eye & yearN on my soundcloud are similar genre wise. Really glad you liked it, thanks for listening. I have a couple in the pipeline that are more similar to Winter's End but even they have their own characteristics and soundscapes that make them different.

As to an earlier question; Yep it's all done in Reason :) If I can improve the bass on this I'll repost but it may be a little while.
