Next Reason update has 2 b free! What do you pay for REs this year?

In my opinion, the next updates(7,8,9,10) for Reason should be free!
Here is my list of REs, that are free for me, or I have payed for (in Euro).

Bitspeak 39
Buffre 39
CV Suite Line Prozessor 0
CV Tuner 7,5
Echobode 32
Etch Red 39
Glitch 7,5
Itsy 7,5
Mordred 7,5
Morfin 0
Polar 55
Polysix 39
PDT2 7,5
Pulsar 0
Resampler 19
Revolt 7,5
Rough Rider 0
Saturation Knob 0

Uhbik S 15
Uhbik A 15
VE3 25
Viking 49
Volt SH1 7,5
Yoko 15
VoltCB! 7,5

Sum 644,5 Euros!

What do you pay this year for REs?

If PHeads get 30% of each RE, PH get 193 Euro (its not right, I buy Polar regular so it is more than 200 Euros)!

Thats much more, than a major update price!

What do you think?

I payed nothing for the 6,5 update and expect to pay for the 7,0 version.

What do you pay for a major update? 6.5 wasn't a major update!

To get version 6 I had the PWYW deal and payed 30 euro.
R4 to R5 was 99 euro and I count on the next version to be similar.

While I would certainly appreciate a free update, I don't think it had to be.
I payed less than 100€ for REs and I don't think that the money you've spent on REs would be decisive for Props in the consideration of a free upgrade. It may be, though, I don't know.
I believe they'd make the upgrade cheaper, though, because they outsourced device development. Now they can release instruments and effects, when they're ready and don't need to wait for an upgrade to release them. So now they can make money sooner rather than later, they might consider making the upgrade cheaper.
But of course that depends mainly on the amount of work they put into the core program.
If they gave us MIDI out, Audio quantize, Groups, spectrum analysis and more precise audio editing features all in one upgrade, the upgrade price might not drop dramatically.
That said, since Propellerheads have proven to be good and effective with their business strategy, they know pretty well, what the average user would pay for an upgrade.
Those people, who are active on the forums, do not represent the average user I believe.
Most Reason users, I suppose, are making music and work most of the time, and spend no time on the Forums.

Wise users, indeed.

I think you miss the RE concept.

it's like asking a free update because you bought a PH refill.

add to this no any RE are needed to run reason 6.5, they are just addon.

"if you want more you pay more" seems logic to me.

I would pay 150 euro's for some major updates in audio editing and handling, user adjustable gui, pluggin latency compensation and subbusses which allow me to solo channels without muting the subbuses which they go to.

I'm not rich, far from it, and have more euor's spend on RE's than the topic starter but I realy don't mind paying this for such major upgrades.

I haven't bought a single RE and I expect to pay for R7. That being said, releasing that new fm synth as an RE is interesting, as it makes it unlikely R7 will contain any new synths, pushing the price of the upgrade down.

I purchased Reason 5 a month before 6 came out. So, my upgrade to 6 was free and then my upgrade to 6.5 was free, of course. I haven't paid for an update in a while, myself. I'm expecting to with Reason 7.

Just the same as you choose to purchase REs (based on your perceived value of them and whether or not you need them), the same can be thought of with updates. I'm sure 7 will include sequencer updates and may include some new REs (like Reason 6 did so stealthily).

REs are a new source of revenue for Propellerhead. With that, they can deliver bigger and better things. They can employ more folks. But I wouldn't expect them to drop a source of revenue in the process by dropping upgrade costs to the customer. Matter of fact, I'd rather they didn't for that reason—the more money we give them, the more innovation we can see and the sooner we can see an update to the RE SDK (to allow more complex REs). That, and I think their upgrade price of $169 has been very appropriate and generous.

Just my thoughts... I could be wrong and they could surprise us all. I'm just saying, from my stance, that I feel no need not to pay for an update.
