midi files for drums

I am not a drummer so I can't seems to make any interesting beats. Is there somewhere I can find midi patterns I can toss on a kong track?

I know the midi files mode not have the notes in the correct lanes and can be an issue.

Also is there something like a refill that contains midi info, not really looking for samples but I guess if there was a good library I would purchase.

Thanks!

You can take a look at what Smart Loops has to offer.

They supply samples & MIDI to Cakewalk, which are included with Sonar.

You can get some of their audio loops for free...

You may actually prefer REX Loops, have a look at DrOctoRex and play with the drums provided. Pretty useful stuff off the bat for many projects.

Myself, I'd really like MIDI files of the built-in patterns from old rhythm boxes, all that crazy/cool Japanese impersonations of Waltz, Meringue etc.

:)

Shortly after the release of Record Props released a download called Rhythm Supply.
Have a search for it on the website, I'm not sure if it's exclusive to Record owners or not but it contains exactly what you're looking for in tidy blocks of midi data for various genres.

PB - I’d forgotten about this bad boy and your right; it’s a nice set of four different styles: http://www.propellerheads.se/download/index.cfm?fuseaction=get_article&article=rhythm_su pply . I just downloaded it again without having to confirm that I have Record and the .record files open just fine in R6/6.5.

Actually it doesn't. There are some very good quality drum samples in there. Anyway, it is up to the user to make them stand out, there are people who can make good drums out of office stationery, pots and pans and whatnot.

Agreed, it's a great 'go-to' pack and the only reason I'm selling a copy is because I have two after buying the Studio Combo and the boxed licenses are transferable!

I'm sorry but the midi files included, which is the subject here, suck very much.
And the way Reason works with midi file if a joke but not in the "funny" meaning.
You'd better off buying a midi pack and not a "refill" with midis, trust me.
