noob ? recording a redrum patch

so I was trying to add a kick drum beat to the intro of a tune, found a patch on redrum, set it up, had record enabled on, hit record, it looks like it's being recorded on the sequencer, there's a red bar going along. but then when I hit stop, there is no bar of audio on the sequencer, it disappears.

wth am I doing wrong? I haven't been here long so sorry if this has already been addressed.

Click the record source button below the meter on the Redrum mix channel.

Then on the audio track, select the Redrum mix channel as the input.
