Not Really A Poll: How much TIME do you spend making music?

I'd make this as a poll but alas, I cannot... so just reply as you see fit.

There have been several polls about "what type of user are you" that attempt to figure out if the userbase is more "hobbyists" or "professionals" or whatever. What I'm more curious about, is how much time people actually spend in Reason making stuff. Call it music, call it beats, call it tracks, call it noise... whatever.

If you can give a definite simple answer like "5 to 10 hours every day because it's part of my job" then great. Or if you're like me, it's a whole day once in a while when I can make the time, so doesn't really work out to a nice simple "X hours per day".

Part of my reason for wondering about this, is the number (and volume [as in loudness]) of people commenting on/complaining/whining about features that are missing from Reason, or why they wish Reason did X Y or Z thing. Not that I disagree with all of these... there is certainly still room for improvement. But as I began wondering what would happen if all those people just stopped complaining and instead made more music (or whatever), I began to wonder just how much time people REALLY spend doing this stuff anyway.

So again to make my own answer clear... Usually once I sit down I get engrossed and spend anywhere from 5 to 15 hours at a stretch. But that's not more than probably about once a week, tops. Probably more like once or twice a month. How 'bout you?

Hummm... If I sum every hours spent in a week and divide the sum by the number of days in a week ( 7 ... just to be sure everyone know this :P ) doing sound design and/or music prod.. I would easily say something like 4 hours a days. But its not really like that, its more... 10 hours one day, next days nothing ... 6 hours the days after... its a bit sporadic. But I definitely spend a lot of time doing this and its definitely better than watching the fuckin' TV.

And sometime I can put this away for a month just to get fresh ideas to me.

My time is spent loading files, sorting files, downloading files,(video and audio), working on films, reading about the software, and of course listening to, and creating music.... anywhere from 0 to 14 hours a day, depending on my mood, drive space available and time.... tough question to answer... I stopped keeping track, since I am rarely paid for the work.... when doing it as a "job".... at least 8 hours a day... but those times are very rare these days

It's a hobby for me, so I spend maybe about 8 hours a week on making music. It takes me about 2 months to write, record, arrange and mix a song.

I take mixing and production seriously ... Adding it all up, well over 30 hours a week.

I'm pretty much in it full time, like a job, but with no set hours and no wage ;)
I go to college twice a week where I'll spend all day doing music related work and then 4 out of the remaining 5 days I spend at home making music or something to do with music.
I've been learning max msp lately which takes up a lot of time so the stuff I do in that will be a slow progress as I don't want to distract myself from the music making too much, so I'll probably spend one day a week trying to make stuff in that.
I don't know how many hours I spend on music in a week because it varies but I do spend a lot of time on it

All times are GMT +2. The time now is 13:29.
