Propellerhead Balance

I'm in the market for a new soundcard.

Inexplicably, Balance is now selling for dirt cheap here in Japan. Is it worth picking one up? Also just wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Roland Quad Capture? Cheers in advance.

Absolutely worth picking up, unless you need to record more than 2 channels at the same time.

Sounds good. How's the latency? I'd also like to use it with Pro Tools. Any experience in that area? Thanks for the reply.

You should find latency to be as good as anything else you can find. The only downside to using it outside of propellerheads is that the clip safe feature wont work as it's software dependant.

I'd say the downside is that you use Balance "outside of propellerheads" anyway :) ...

Thanks for your 'balanced' views, chaps. (Sorry, couldn't help myself).

Ok. Another question. If you had the money, would you spring for an RME babyface instead? I've got the dough to buy either, really. I'm not fussed about the MIDI ports especially.

If you use Reason mainly, not really. Its a good interface for sure but the integrated mixer/switch of Balance makes it pretty neat, I recommended it to a friend recently too.

Highly recommend Balance. Latency is incredible, sound quality fantastic, and Reason integration unparalleled. It can be found in the States for under $360 USD frequently.

I can up a Reason file where I recorder my voice with a 20 euro microphone?
Recorded in my living room and you will notice when I put the recording volume all the way up the noise level is not noticeable!
