Are folks really complaining about the upgrade price?

I've seen a bit of this on Facebook.

Instead of the usual $169, the upgrade to 7 is cheaper at $129.

Not to mention there are Rack Extensions that cost more than this!

So, MIDI out, audio quantize, channel grouping, spectrum analyzer, etc for $129...YES PLEASE!!!

Right?

For real. Plus, this is clearly to compete with Ableton 9's release, so I can totally see them releasing a 7.1 later on with enhancements like maybe I dunno... a better browser.. just a guess.

Still though it's pretty reasonable and the updates look tight.

You're surprised that Reason users are complaining? do you not recall the 6 release?

JordProd 2013-03-12 18:52

yes and no

props are amazing, they do crazy stuff and i will pay whatever it is they ask for because they always deserve it. always. they work hard to keep us happy and inspired.
so props will get my money for R7 that is for sure, just like in the past

however.

keep in mind that Channel Grouping, Midi out and audio editing are a STANDARD for every DAW. these are the absolute basic features reason was WAY behind other DAWs when it came to this. people could not belive that with all of its complexity , Reason cannot use midi out or groups..

so this update will bring reason closer to other DAWs, yes. but i was expecting alot more from R7. i HONESTLY thaought that these 3 features will be the "by the way" features in R7, along the "Big Features" wich never came (maby the new Audiomatic Retro Transformer will be amazing enough)

again dont get me wrong im NOT complaining i will buy it the second its out!!! im still happy with any new upgrade to reason

PROPS - thank you again!!

I think that this was enough to bring me back into the reason fold. I had reason/record when it first came out. (I have been using Cakewalk since Pro Audio 9). I love the interface and usability of reason over anything I have ever done with CW. I am happy to buy this program outright again just for the ability to use it's sequencer and mixer with my VST instruments. The workflow and useability of Reason are what makes it so attractive to me.

Nah don't need the pointless upgrade, I don't understand why people can't be happy with what they got, 6.5 is good for me for a long while yet. Think ill wait til reason 8.

I am amazed at the amount of complaining and demanding to do with reason 7 and hasn't even been beta tested yet.
Leaves a sour taste in my mouth and somewhat disappointed in the community.

General Forum and Feature Suggestion should just be shut down from the time they announce something until it's released.

Reason 5 and prior were all priced at $129. This is no different really. I would have liked to see have gotten an additional discount for owning Reason and Balance but hey shit happens.
