CV-Recording

Is there any way to record a CV signal into the sequencer?

Fred

Yes.You can do all sorts of things in Reason. ;)

Care to explain? I don't think it's the most obvious thing in Reason to record/playback arbitrary CV (and NOT dedicated automation info).

(Hints: CV to audio / mapping CV to assignable knobs)

With EMI and virtual midi ports

Yeah, thank you MacDude, that really didn't solve my problem :D

Maybe I should explain my problem a bit more:
I'm trying to record any CV into the sequencer. Like let's say you have a standart LFO and you want to record it's signal into the sequencer. You would get a 'sinewaved-automation' as a result!

What I'm trying to achieve: I want to record my sidechain-gainreduction signal, so I can use it to controll the SSL-EQ, as this one has no CV inputs and can't be combined. And yes, I do know about the MClass EQ ;)

Hmmm, I still don't get it. According to your description the problem lies entirely with the SSL EQ - because it is not controllable by external signals. You can automate its knob movements but this is (as far as I know) not controllable by external devices. And the automation lane itself is dedicated to Reason's way of automation recording.

What I can think of:

1. Record your external CV as audio
2. Route the recorded audio into Thor and convert it via matrix into CV
3. Use the resulting CV as source for a 2nd Thor and route CV In to knob1
4. Record knob1 as automation
5. Move recorded automation clip to another lane, dedicated to SSL EQ automation.

But I can't help myself: while writing down these steps I consider the whole procedure as extremly painful and cumbersome. Not worth the efforts if you could maybe achieve it with other tools in a much simpler way.

There is way without CV recording needed.
But for record CV to automation you can use this conception (virt. MIDI port is required):

(Also you need add new control surface (as example <Other> MIDI Control Keyboard) and choose port your virt midi port)

Would you mind explaining how? :) Unless it's as complicated as madmacmans version :D (thanks for your thoughts by the way)

Hi Fred

You can do this with Re Volt rack extensionhttps://www.propellerheads.se/forum/...ons/icon10.gif

http://shop.propellerheads.se/produc...-cv-processor/

watch the video demo, and you will see what you need
