DRAW your OWN waveforms! RE idea...

I think we should have some kind of RE wherein you are able to "draw" in your own waveform shapes. It could be a dual-oscillator type thing, with FM and RM possibilities. Maybe some other types of "Morphing" between the two oscillators available, with some nice filters and maybe some advanced waveshaping stuff such as that seen on the Thor and Maelstrom. Anyway... I'D pay for THAT.

That would be dope!

It's a very good idea ! There is a new set of M4L devices which have been released which contains one such instrument. It's here : http://stretta.blogspot.fr/2013/03/t...#disqus_thread
It would be nice to have those kind of RE in Reason !

Yeah, it's a nice idea but sadly the RE SDK doesn't support such features yet (afaik). It is a commonly requested feature though, so here's to hoping.

A VSTi that has very nice waveshaping possibilities imho is Helix. Another one is Cableguys Curve 2. It would be nice to see something like that but with the aforementioned FM, RM, and even PM possibilities.

Fl studio has that.

What should be possible with the current SDK, is drawing a waveform by its harmonics, in an additive way, like in Ableton's Operator. Just with knobs or sliders. Maybe it would lack the visual representation of the created waveform though.

I would buy it.

Excellent idea. Second that! :)

Good idea! I think as a workaround it should be possible to "draw" them in a sequencer (with midi notes) or in a Matrix, and translate those values to CV. The CV could then be used to drive whatever you want..

I haven't tried that, but should be possible I think. Combinator anyone? :D

Draw your own waveforms?

Up to a point, or rather, five points, this has been available for CV signals since March!

You can create user waveforms in Charlotte, which can output a 5-point loopable waveform, with extra 3-point release, with adjustable angle per stage; use either ReVolt to record output a visualisation as seen in the demo video, or simply display it through Scope Jnr.

Don't be scared by the fact Charlotte uses figures alone, not vector graphics: the result is the same, and in fact it's probably faster and more accurate, although we've always planned to add a small vector display of the envelope/waveform shape when such a function becomes available.
