Upgrade from 6.5 to 7...is it worth it?

Just upgraded from Reason 5 to 6 last year. Is it worth it (or fair) to upgrade to 7 given the price of upgrade is same for Reason 1-6.5?

That's a question only you can answer.

Ha,ha yeah I agree

But as an add on,for me it was the Parallel Channel and Buss options,Spectrum EQ the convert audio to rex.
the audio editing tools
Elastic midi is a blast!!
Loads more to choose the reason for upgrading. But as said, its down to the owner of a previous Reason versionhttps://www.propellerheads.se/forum/...ons/icon10.gif

They could always do the trial,if they need convincing,ha,ha https://www.propellerheads.se/forum/...ons/icon10.gif

Elastic MIDI?

@merkinball: On topic, taking the demo for a ride will tell you if it's worth your money or not. For me it has been the case, but if you want to save your money, R6.5 is still working as usual, right?

You gotta ask yourself some questions.

Do you want or need midi out?

Do you want or need to be able to bounce audio to a REX easily?

You want easy busses?

You want spectrum EQ?

If 2 or more of those questions are yes, you'd probably wont regret upgrading.

What phasys says sums up everything that you should ask yourself about this:

Busses: Parallel Mixer Channels + Group Mixer Channels

You should only upgrade when there's a new feature you desperately need or a few that will greatly improve your workflow and tool set... so, I guess that happened to you going from R5 to R6, right? ...now you need to decide again to jump from R6.5 to R7 (R6 to R6.5 was a free upgrade).

If there's nothing that interests you in R7, then you'll get all of this anyway when upgrading to... say, R8 if there's something on that one that you need. PH are cool enough to let us skip the upgrades we don't see a need, that's why upgrading from R1 or from R6 to R7 is the same price. That's cool, IMHO :)

the Drag and drop workflow also was a quite good add-on

Quote:

1. Drag the desired .wav/mp3/aac/wma from browser in Explorer to Reason 7 [Ed.: or any other supported format, or from OS X Finder]
2. double click the clip in the sequencer, then choose “Bounce -> Bounce Clip to REX loop” on the rick click context menu..
3. The “Tool” window will automatically pop up with the new REX file selected. In that same tool window you click the “To Rack” button.
Voila! Your brand new REX loop is now loaded into a Dr. OctoRex.

Drag'n'drop is possible since Reason 6, so all he's missing now is the auto-slicing into REX part provided by Reason 7 :)

Edit: ...and mp3/aac/wma audio import is also a cool new feature in Reason 7, that's true.

I know what you're thinking. "Did I need Reason six or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is Reason 7, the most powerful DAW in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?
