I feel that my music are missing some kind of fullness?!
I'd like you guys to listen to some of my tracks and tell me what you think? Not asking for criticism of any kind, but more of a guide.

I feel there's something missing in my tracks. A thickness of some kind. I have a few great songs imo, but they lack something.

I'm wondering if it's because I don't have enough layed synth following the same chords, or if EQ'ing is the problem, or both things!

Please let me know, and share all your wisdom with me! :D

Here's the link to my soundcloud profile.

Serenity- Great panning, ambience and production. The mids and highs sound fine. Not enough low end that's for sure. Needs more bass. Plus the overall volume is very low compared to the next one.
Euphoria- Hm can't put my finger on it. Maybe the mid-highs are too shrill? Sounds like you boosted in the wrong place or cut too much of the meat out of the main synth. Also, the first 2 tunes are too short.
Mindless Beat- I noticed it's not mastered. Seems as if there is a nice low warm kick but no bass instrument at all? Length is too short.
Experimental World- Too long for me... Kick is too loud. Good music though.
Ominus Luminus- Again, no lows in that bass but at least I can tell there is a bass in this one. Intro is really cool. Love that flanged swoosh thing. How did you do that? You're really good at the Haas effect.
*Seems your main problem is lack of bass/low end in general. You might want to check your speakers, headphones or studio room acoustics.
Those are just my opinions and I'm listening on KRK Rokit 5's. Very reliable monitors.
Hope that helps!

Well my speakers are really good, but I really REALLY suck at making bass synth etc. I know I lack the low end, but don't know how to make a proper bass. Generally sound design are my weakest area of expertise, and quite frankly desperate for guidance!

Thanks for the compliments! Means a lot to me since I don't get supported that much! :)

As for the Omnius Luminus song, the swoosh sound isn't my own to be fairly honest. I'm certainly not capable of making such a sound yet. It's a patch, but I'm not sure where I found it. Can't remember that much.

Mindless beat does actually have a bass, but I understand if it's misunderstood. The synth you hear at the very start, are intended to be the bass.

About Serenity. Yea I cheated on that one too... Patch all the way. Found some good ones on the computer, and since it's my first ambient song I'm working on, I thought it wouldn't matter that much.

Double up on your drums and bass's....copy and paste in rack or in mixerboard....adjust one lower than the other by quite a bit, then boost the lower copy versions more bassy....if you want a bad ass kick (listen to a few of my tracks)....use the Kong "Toof" kick patch---IT RULZ!

Forgot to mention that I have ADAM A7X. Oh well one at-least. Using my old A5X as the 2nd speaker. I will get the 2nd A7X when the two other A5X speakers gets sold :P IF they gets sold.

Also. if you have the RAM and CPU power, EQ everything in the rack before it goes to the mixer may also want to see what I do in this mastering tutorial I made (however, i left out my M-class compressor settings by accident in the video), if you need those let me know, and DONT adjust a track already in your rack to my settings, it may screw it up...start with a fresh track and try them....i go over the doubling and EQing in the video as well....peace...

I EQ everything at once when the demo runs on repeat. Cut out stuff with the m- class EQ, and boost the signal with the spectrum meter, unless it needs more surgical attention.

I believe my main problem are just like what torusflow says. Lack of low end. Somthing to fatten up the background, so it feel more alive.

Double up bass and EQ differently....pretty simple :)

Soulspeed 2013-08-02 20:46

Maybe need your bass to sound like this....check it out at 1:35....if that aint thick and heavy, then i dont know exactly what you need :)

Csw91 2013-08-02 20:55

Well your music are sort of different from what I'm doing, so the kind of bass I need is a semi constant bass synth, that goes well with the rhythm. You know, House music, to Swedish house style. My work are broader then that, but what I just wrote should give an idea what I mean.
