Sequencer improvement

I just remembered an idea that I had a long time ago for improving the sequencer: the ability to create loops that are based on instances, rather than actual copies.

I hate making a change to a single beat in a group and then having to replace all of the now out-of-date copies with the new group. Having the option for looping a single group for a set number of measures would take care of this problem.

Does this make sense to anyone?

Well, use the patterns(for Redrum). For Subtractor and Malstr

Yeah, that'd be a nice improvement indeed. As would be any of the old standard requests for markers, time/tempo change features, velocity humanization, simultaneous multi-track editing, audible drag in the piano roll editor, copy/paste of controller data, undo/preview in the Change Events area....

etc. etc. etc.

Re: Sequencer improvement

I use the Matrix very liberally, but sometimes you simply have to make a sequencer track. And that's where the sequencer improvements that arothman mentioned below would come in handy.

I just hadn't seen this particular feature request posted in a very long time.

I'd be very surprised if the next version of Reason doesn't have most of those oft-requested features that would make the Reason sequencer (IMHO) perfect.

Yes, a good idea!

It is true what nitro2k01 says about using the Matrix, but pattern-based sequencers aren't polyphonic.
So yes, you suggestion is a genious one.
This feature actually reminds me of 3D Studio MAX.

Reminds me of Flash with its use of movie clip symbol or graphic symbol instances. You change the symbol and every instance reflects that change.

I like it

ditto, great idea
