Adam Fielding - "The Forgotten", dark instrumental ambient

Hello thar!

I feel like I've just spent the past 10 minutes explaining what this track is about and what I've been up to, so I will cut to the chase here :) It's a dark track, and it's kind of depressing... but not overly so. You can listen to the track using the link in my signature, or download it using this link:

Despite my attitude, I would really love to know what you think of this track. (sorry Tom, the piano is still there :P) I anticipate the remainder of this month being pretty hectic, so I reckon I won't have much time to write many tracks... but I do have a couple of things in the works and a few ideas on the go (as always!).

This track was a really nice excuse to get back to writing something emotional, and it also provided a nice way to test drive some new software (hint hint). Originally the track was quite, quite different, but this is pretty much how I had originally envisioned it so I'm glad it ended up this way.

...and I will stop waffling there. Once again, I'd love to know what you think. Cheers!

It happens with some songs I here, that I keep my mind focused on how it is done. What kind of instruments did they use, what kind of effects, how it is mastered, and so on...
With your songs I completely forget about that.. and it's just wonderful music flowing
a few songs of mine

I didn't think it was depressing, just chilling.
I like your sound textures.
It's very hard to get a piece together with a few sounds and a slow tempo but this all seems to work well.
You're obviously an adept.

:-B
But could you do it without an opposable thumb?

That's "chilling" as in "chill" rather than 'Hammer House of Horror' of course.

Thanks :) I must admit that I often find myself doing that (listening out for techniques/instruments), I think sometimes it can detract from just enjoying the music but I'm glad it wasn't an issue here.

Thanks mate, that's good to hear as I'm currently working on a little soundtrack of sorts for a short-film that's kind of been on the back burner for about a year :) I'll probably release some tracks once details have been confirmed, but filming finished recently so things are looking good.

Cheers! I don't know about the adept part though, normally I just chuck as many sounds as possible into the mix and try to make some sort of sense out of it :P (partly joking, but sort of not) It's a habit I've been trying to get away from, it's not that I have a problem with using as many tracks as possible, I just sometimes think change is a good thing.

Glad you liked it, maybe "depressing" was the wrong term... but I wouldn't call it uplifting either. Maybe I should just avoid using ambiguous descriptions altogether. On second thoughts... nah :P
