My laptop is almost always on, and almost always connected to the internet - and I have had ZERO problems (so far).

I have a WiFi router. The public IP address that my ISP assigns is assigned to the router. My PC is assigned a local (192.168.#.#) IP address by the router. The router is a bridge and acts as a firewall.

I'd have to click on something to actually infect my computer.

Can you be specific and elaborate on exactly how being connected to the internet "will seriously screw up windows and more"? If there is something I am missing, I would like to implement preventative measures.

Thanks in advance for your input.
