IMO the only reason to specialise (in career terms) in a genre is if you genuinely feel your expertise lay there and you can bring something fresh to it and take it somewhere new.

Anyhoo, I digress; not that Wiki is gospel truth and many will disagree with definitions, you may want to take a peek at this list of 'Electronic Music Genres'.

Again, in EDM terms, there's also Ishkur's page too.

Clearly this is a narrow field of many sub-genres. I'll leave jazz, rock, blues, rock 'n' Roll, psychobilly, punk, et al to others.
