Parity-panning

I'm trying to build a patch where every other note is panned hard right and left (for a "ping-pong" type panning).

My current approach is to use a Thor sequencer set to two steps controlling Curve 1 and triggering the sequencer Gate In (Trig) from a RPG-8 and then controlling the pan CV input of a Line Mixer input with the Curve 1 output. This does sort of work but causes ugly clicking since the sustain of each note is panned once a new note is triggered.

Is there some clever way of doing this while allowing each note to play out completely in the intended panning "mode"? I'm guessing I need to have one "left" and one "right" Thor going to 2 channels panned right and left but I can't figure out how to trigger them in a round-robin fashion.
