Block layering & quantized block performance/triggering

I was just thinking about blocks the other day and how interesting their concept is. But I've always thought how much better it would be if we could layer multiple blocks onto the timeline which contain different sequencer and audio elements, rather than only being able to lay down one block at a time in a linear fashion.

This could then become a gateway to an Ableton-esque performance mode could be triggered either on screen or via an MPK-style trigger pad. For example a handful of blocks could contain drums and fills, whilst other blocks could contain melodies and vocals. Triggering each block could then either be freestyle or quantized to single, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 or 1/16 bars for precise live remixing.

Does this sound like a good idea?
