Why are there people that think rack extensions make VSTs redundant? That is stupid, there will always be infinitely more VSTs than REs, VST compatibility opens you up to a huge universe of plugins, and not just from large or established companies either.
Further, one of the main reasons thousands of producers wont use reason is because the large collection of VST plugins they have assembled over several years that they rely on and are accustomed to/have mastered wont work with it. Remove that stumbling block and you can tap into a much larger market.
As for people actively not waning it? That is madness, it is not as if you are forced to use VSTs just because the option is there. If you are worried about stability then do not use VSTs, or use only VSTs known to be stable, simple.
