The first thing I would say is that I make the music before the video. So when setting up the song I choose either 60 or 120 bpm. This makes things easy for animation programs working in frames per second or video editing software. At 60 bpm, 1 beat is 1 second and 24 or 25 frames depending on format (I use 24), so then a 4 beat section of music is 96 frames and a 1/4 note is 6 frames.
Also I load the waveform into the project to be able to sync some important sonic events even if they are off beat.
Then repeating scenes can just be copied and pasted multiple times.
It's quite a time consuming process,and requires some planning but then most video work needs planning.
Another technique that can be used for certain situations is using a program like Resolume but that goes a bit beyond the scope of this short reply and the explanations will be a bit different in a few weeks! in any case I would be only to happy to give extra details either via PM or video tutorial.
