Arrow Buttons, buttons, buttons!

So i have gone all software now but i still miss my buttons and knobs!....

What is the best Reason compatible hardware that you guys can recommend so i can control the Reason interface. Would be looking for faders/rotary and play/stop....that kind of thing.

Also, I know it is a long shot but is there any Reason compatible hardware that i could use to mash up beats/sounds in real time in order to use Reason as a means to perform live(ish) or is Reason purely studio based?

Thanks for your enlightenment,

Chris

You can definitely use Reason live.

About the hardware I'd have to know your budget to start with. There is some supported devices like the ones you see here:

I have found that Novation are pretty reliable. The Xio Synth is pretty reliable, and you can run it of the usb and play it even when the PC is off.

For faders there is the Behringer BCF 2000 and the rotary BCR 2000. Although this said, I have had problems with Behringer in the past.

The Akai MPD-24 for everything but the Keyboard, use it for triggering sounds etc http://www.djempire.co.uk/product/ak...pd-24-domestic

Google everything, until you are really sure, because a hardware controller is the all important link between you and the software.

A lot of people swear by the Novation reMote SL. I swear by the keystation pro 88, but I'm a player. 9 faders, 24 knobs, 17 buttons. Massive zoning, complete control ranging, 88 keys, hammer action. I know that many people don't like it's action, but NIN's keyboardist uses it for his software controller, so there are others like me.....

I use the the M-Audio Axiom 49. It easily installs in Reason 4.0.1 (The Update). It has 9 faders, 9 buttons, 8 knobs, 8 pads, and a transport control area w/ repeat, rew., ff., stop, play, and record buttons. It also has a handy octave/transpose buttons for fast switching. And of course it has the mod and pitch shift controls. I think I paid $200 for it. I also play live with it. I assign the knobs to the Combi. knobs or my LFO rate or whatever. I also assign two of the buttons to select the next or previous instrument. Anyway, works good for me.
