Battle beauty

Yep - A new track. Probably not the happiest tune you'll ever here - but I hope it moves you nonetheless. :-)

Whoa, very beautiful!! I remember one of the first pieces you ever posted had a Barber "Adagio for Strings" feel and this does as well.

This is produced extremely well and proves the point "less is more". It actually has a rather uplifting ending imho. You have done a wonderful job evoking the dichotomy of desolation and hope. KUDOS!!

Hey thanks Chris!

I adore the strings and Barber's 'Adagio' is one of my favourite pieces of all time. You can tell, can't you? LOL...

The blending of carefully selected notes into each other creates an ethereal sound that I love - particularly airy strings. I have spent some time trying to create an air to the strings that suspends the note, so that it drifts rather then sprints. This is something I'm continuously working on.

I have to admit, I really get into slower paced music and most of work reflects this. I often experiment just to separate myself from my fast paced job where I watch my life disappearing in front of my eyes. I want to reflect, to drink atmosphere, to appreciate life as I experience it - not run through it as fast as I can. :-)

But every now and then I do like a faster pace - as you've seen recently.

Best regards,

jase

Yeh- very moving and I do agree there is an element of positivity at the end. I just love strings (you may have noticed lol) The production is good. May I ask how you get the strings to sound so authentic?

Hi Yaz!

Yeah, I thought you had a thing for the strings. :-) Thanks for the great feedback.

To make the strings (GPO refill) sound as authentic as I can, I find it's a delicate play wth attack, reverb and release. I then try to play each violin as if it's a separate musician, not perfect - but expressive. It's also the moments of silence and when to start and end each note - for example, there's one moment where I start the bass before the violins, it semed to sound better that way - it gave it more heart. At other times, the violins start before the bass (and sometimes one violin over the other) - it's just fiddling with the timing until it sounds more human and heartfelt rather than machine-like and perfect. I still think it 'sounds' too machine-like - but I can at least handle it better with what I've found at the moment. :-)

Best regards,

jase

NIce work. Sad and beautiful. Nice chord progressions.
Will you be doing another variation of it? It seems like it can be real epic with some more harmony. Not that it needs it.

Thanks!

I've been toying with it this evening. I'd like to make it longer and richer if it will work for it. I've made some further moments but they don't seem to fit quite right - just have to keep working at it I guess.

Best regards,

jase
