Reason 5 & PowerPC?

Will Reason 5 work with my G5 Dual 2.0 PowerPC or will i be forced to get a new Intel powered Mac?

no, reason 5 will not run on any powermac. You will indeed need an Intel Mac...

No, you're not forced to get a new Intel powered Mac. You could just buy a nice Windows based PC.

Well, that's not bad, because 15 years ago it was still quite tricky to run music on a PC. Nowadays it's pretty good though.

Yea that was a tough transition for Mac guys, I mean Apple HAD to change, PPC was just not good for laptops and mobile devices. So going intel was the right thing to do. But it sure sucks when you have a Dual G5 that can't run Record or Reason 5. In fact my Dual G5 is going on ebay today, I am finally on the other side of all my projects that I can get rid of it. I will still be a mac guy, but I am making sure that all the programs I use are cross platform just so I am not stuck on either side of the fence.

Agreed I'm using a G5 right now and saving to get a PC I have a family i don't have extra money to buy a mac every 5 years or so. Apple is cutting off a lot of older machines support, some only 3 years old! I'll never buy another mac period! With a pc you will be able to run programs till the MB or CPU burns out,mac computers will last for years but apple will find a way to stop support for it to get you to buy another one.

Talking

LOL >>>>> I signed up....
My quad G5 PPC ain't going anywhere soon, or my G4 or my G3's, and a few other POWER PCs.... But I still have access to my wife's Powerbook. Protools 7.4 is enough... Live 7 is enough... But Reason 5 was a must have since I am collaborating with others that would upgrade.... Had this not been the case, Reason 4 would have been just fine as well....
