Necessary things needed for an electro house home studio?

Hey guys, im pretty new to Reason, but i'm actually really starting to get the hang of it pretty well. I really only do Electro house, progressive house tracks. But my question is, what is good for a somewhat noob studio setup? whats really necessary for making my tracks sounds super clear (besides mastering) and really give me a better studio feel. I'm running a powermac g5 with 3g or ram, and a 1tb hd. I have a Alesis q25 keyboard for making some leads and stuff (i love it!). but thats about it. What else would really make a difference in my tracks? like sounds cards? or like drum pads? just stuff that isnt really expensive that makes a difference in the quality of an electro house track. Just post the things you think would be the most beneficial towards my music making! thanks a lot!

You don't needs toys, you do need Technique. Reason really does have almost anything you could need. Add Record if you have the budget (which I assume you do as you are looking to spend) and then you really have everything - ReFills being the only real exception for electronic music making.

But after that, Skills, Technique and Passion are the magic bullets that you are looking for. Toys will actually slow you down as you wait for them instead of getting moving yourself.

That and register your software so that we are more happy to bond with you.

Benedict speaks words of wisdom. Congrats on your obvious excitement and enjoyment of Reason - you're gonna love it for Electro House. Here's a General Forum thread with some of our home setups shown and discussed: https://www.propellerheads.se/forum/...d.php?t=138563 . There's a huge thread in the User Forum with dozens of pics, but you need to register here online to access it. Also, the User Forum is the best place to get advice as you progress.

reason record and a wave editor will get you making tracks, there are wonderful tools out there (vsts), consider them the last thing you want to buy. atleast with reason and record you will have everything with next to nothing missing from your kit.

if you plan on doing recording i would at the very least buy a mid range sound card, it does make a difference.

what are you playing your tracks out of? because a decent pair of studio monitors will go a long way.

Don't buy anything until the need becomes very obvious...and believe me, it will. Don't try and predict it. If you buy a lot of stuff now, a few months down the road you might realize you actually need something entirely different, and you'll wish you still had the money.
