I thought Windows 8 wasn't going to be released until sometime in October. Assuming that's true, whatever "Windows 8" you have has to be some kind of preview or demo, and it's hardly surprising Reason won't work in it.

Exactly. It's a PREVIEW, not the final program as it will be released to the world, later. Things may be changed. A preview may not have the final version's full capabilities. Nobody's going to spend time making sure their software works on a preview installation, they'll wait until the final Windows 8 is ready to go.

And as nickmorganandsomenumbers said, Reason 5 is old news, and I doubt Propellerhead is going to do much work making sure it's compatible with Windows 8.

Especially if people don't register it.

well it is not because it say something dude , it is more like you have a bad reason 5 or a bad windows 8 version or some beta version anyway it is the site of windows service that should help you out with this because it is not normal !

Why would they debug an older version of the program for an OS that won't be released for 3 months?

Reason 5 does not seem to be supported any longer. The current version is Reason 6.5.1.

In any case, you should register your Reason 5 licence to be able to contact support, they are the only ones who can help you.
