Why is the USB plug always upside-down?

Been having that for a loooong time too till i realized that the 2 square holes always need to be on top lol. Now i'm having it with mini usb which will soon mess up the connector on my phone haha

Bad design. Note that the new Apple connector works either way. As do audio jacks.

I also have the same problem with the AC plugs which have blades of different sizes.

Haha indeed seems that from the 50/50 chance the wrong side comes up just a bit too much lol. Dark forces at work here

If you pay attention to the USB symbol printed on the plug or the Propellerhead caption on the Ignition Key, you can't go wrong. At least if your computer or your USB hub isn't turned upside down!

The worst thing is: Try to plug it, doesn't fit -- turn it -- doesn't fit -- turn again -- now it fits.. Its *is* some black magic

Well, I agree for the rare case if I want to connect a USB cable behind my back ...
