Any recommended resources for EQ'ing?

Hi all

Can anyone recommend any good resources (videos / books etc) specifically focussed on EQing.

I need to learn how and when to EQ each sound / instrument in my arrangements. I know there is no stock template to follow but I need my tracks to sound a bit more polished.

Any help much appreciated!

I found I learned most useful stuff about EQing from this book: http://books.google.de/books/about/M...wC&redir_esc=y

Excellent book in general but a lot of attention on EQing and spacing and compression

If you like to learn with videos:

Sonic Academy has a video course entitled Mixing and Creating Space.

Never hurt to check out You Tube mixing tutorials for EQ and what not.

Even tutorials done on other DAWs works well because of a lot of the lesson can be easily applied to Reason as well.

Completely agree. EQing is one of the least DAW-specific topics of all.

I realize not long ago that its not only the skills that make a difference, the tools can make a huge difference.

For a long time I was using the mclass eq (not a lot of choice back then) and thought eq's should be really about the same, until I tried, ubik Q, what a diffenrence it made, i really tried again with the mclass with about the same settings, but the sound was dull, hollow and I could not get near the sound with the ubik Q.

Maybe someone with more skills could but I cant, so my sound has improved a lot just by using ubik, this was just for my guitars, I could imagine the difference if it was applied everywhere.

But to be fair to PH, I can get close to the ubik with the ssl console eq, but not has good. But now I know it's not only the engineer, the tools also makes a huge difference.
