Lightbulb The Silence - synthpop w/ vocals

Here my new song, a melancholic (anti?) Xmas track. I tried to incorporate some of the great tips I got on this forum; made the vocals a bit wetter, doubled them and gave the drums more punch. Oh, and I brought in some guest vocalists too. Anxious to learn more from you guys!

Another great song. I loved the slowed down pace and the tension between the slower drums and faster melody. I also liked the lyrics and the singing was fantastic. Great contrast between the music and vocals.

I'm not sure the link you put up is right though. The link took me to my Soundcloud dashboard. Try this link instead?

I had a problem with the link too. I searched for you on SoundCloud and listened. You get a really good big sound.

Great job Heliophile

I can hear the influence of several 80s bands;
- Talking Heads - for the intro
- Yazoo - for the poppy melody
- Depeche Mode - for some of the chord changes along with the bell melody
- Men without Hats - your vocals remind me of them

Great song, arrangement, synths.

The one suggestion I have - I'd like to here the track with substantially more reverb in this song, I think it would fit the mood even better.

Anyway great job - thanks for sharing!

cheers

Wow - sounds great! Your voice reminds me of Tokyo Police Club.

I agree 100% with everything Raymond says. Maybe even a dash of De/Vision influence in there? More reverb, particularly in the chorus, would work really well. You have a fantastic singing voice & some of the finest production skills I've heard on here. Splendid song!

Cheers,

J

Wow, thanks everyone! I've got some listening to do, because honestly I'm not that familiar with most of the bands that were mentioned as my suspected influences. De/Vision is definitely an important influence for me and so is Diorama, but my 80's pop influences make my stuff sound a bit less dark than those bands, I think.

I guess I'm always conservative with reverb, maybe too conservative. Will try to overdo it on the next track and then back off a bit. Maybe try ducking the reverb with the dry signal. Thanks for your suggestions!
